The curious person is not always the loudest question-asker in the room. Sometimes curiosity is quiet: noticing an assumption, staying with a difficult idea for another minute, or asking someone what changed their mind.

Like any practice, it gets easier with repetition. Read beyond your usual shelf. Take a different street home. Replace the impulse to judge with the decision to investigate.

A better question

When something feels obvious, ask: what am I not seeing? That simple question makes space for context, surprise and other people’s experience.

Curiosity does not mean accepting every answer. It means resisting the comfort of the first one. The reward is a world that keeps becoming larger, even when your surroundings stay the same.
