A walk after a difficult meeting, a quiet coffee before opening the laptop, a few minutes looking out of the window—these moments are easy to dismiss because they leave no visible output.

But the mind keeps working below the surface. It connects ideas, softens problems and finds language for things we only half understood. This is not an interruption to the work. It is part of the work itself.

Leave something unfinished

Before you step away, write down the question you are trying to answer. Then let it travel with you without forcing a solution. Often, clarity arrives once you stop staring directly at the problem.

Rest is not a reward for finally finishing everything. It is one of the conditions that lets good work happen at all.
